my college coach used to reframe overtraining as “under recovering”. One day in the red usually isn’t anything to worry about, but if you’re going weeks in the red/low yellow, you should take a step back and think about whether you might be at risk for overtraining
overtraining syndrome usually looks like plateaus in your athletic performance, elevated resting heart rate, suppressed HRV, restless/poor sleep, frequent illness. women may have their menstrual cycles disrupted. WHOOP can help you track all of those things
