I do a mix of high-intensity intervals, calmer yoga sessions, and weight training. WHOOP seems to give me a strain score for each, but I’m wondering if it calculates these differently. If my heart rate spikes during a sprint, that’s obvious, but what about the static holds in yoga or the slow grind of heavy lifting? Is the strain still accurate, or do I need to label certain workouts to get a clearer picture?
WHOOP scores Strain on a personal 0–21 scale by tracking how hard your heart works and how much you move. For high-intensity workouts, it’s all about heart rate. For strength training or yoga, WHOOP factors in movement and duration… even if your heart rate doesn’t spike.
You don’t need to label workouts, but logging them gives WHOOP extra context to dial in your insights.
