My MG just took a firmware update to 50.30.3.0 but I can not see what is fixed or addressed in the update. I am seeing lots of HR issues, anyone know if this has addressed them?
Hey! I haven’t seen any official release notes yet for firmware 50.30.3.0 on the WHOOP MG… looks like WHOOP hasn’t shared specifics on what’s in this update. Usually these updates include general improvements like bug fixes or better data accuracy, but nothing detailed has been posted so far.
If your heart rate still seems off after updating, double-check that your app’s fully up to date and that your band’s snug and sitting in the right spot. That usually helps!
I have an open ticket with Whoop in regards to strange HR. It’s not a loose or location of the band. It will for no reason bump up to 175+ and stay there for the remainder of my ride.
I have asked Whoop four times in this ticket what was in the firmware update and where can I find a Whoop 5 firmware page for future updates. All I get on this question is crickets.
I can’t help but think Whoop 5/MG might have been rushed to market. How can there be no page regarding firmware.
Whoop is really bad about publishing firmware patch notes. I reached out to them about this in the past and provided them feedback that there should be detailed patch notes for every firmware. Why would we install an update if we don’t know what it does? I personally won’t. As someone paying (a lot) for Whoop service, this is something I expect. It is not too much to ask for patch notes with a firmware update. But they’ve been bad about this with 4.0 too.
Here’s the official response from Whoop when I asked for details on a previous firmware update they did not publish any patch notes for.
“We completely understand wanting to stay informed about what’s included in firmware updates. While we don’t publish full patch notes for every release, we do aim to highlight the most important changes, improvements, or fixes when an update goes live—especially if they impact performance or user experience. If you ever have questions about a specific update, feel free to reach out and we’ll be happy to share what we can! Have a lovely day!”
I have asked them many times about the recent update. No response. It is as you say, critical to know what we are installing and also have the ability to go back if it causes problems
I also directly reached out to them last night on Facebook Messenger asking what is different in this release. No response yet.
UPDATE: Whoop responded and said they could not tell me what has changed in this firmware update. This is pathetic, Whoop. There is no excuse for not publishing patch notes with a firmware release.
Sounds like I might be switching to this unreleased Garmin whoop competitor in a few months.
Looks like they finally got around to posting the patch notes today. Please publish these for every release at the time of release.
About time, now if only they can admit there is an issue capturing accurate HR when cycling. Whoop band seems fine most of the day bit goes bonkers when on my ride. I can’t help think it is the motions cyclist go through when moving around on the handlebars. I need a pro athlete from the cycling world to complain seeing as they are supposed to be using it
