I wanted to share a few feature suggestions that I, and several other members I’ve spoken with, believe could truly unlock the Strength Trainer’s full potential and position it as a comprehensive strength coaching tool.
Track weight progressions over time for each exercise to visualize improvements.
Add post-workout feedback, allowing users to rate intensity (e.g., “way too light” to “too heavy”), so future loads can be automatically adjusted.
Incorporate recovery metrics into strength training recommendations. If recovery is low, suggest reduced loads or allow the user to approve smart adjustments.
Offer structured training plans rather than standalone workouts—algorithmic programs that build on prior sessions and apply progressive overload (similar to Freeletics Coach).
Integrate with Whoop Coach, enabling personalized strength sessions to be created directly within the Strength Trainer.
There’s so much potential here to turn Strength Trainer into a cornerstone of the Whoop experience - one that adapts intelligently based on user data and promotes long-term progress.
I couldn’t agree more with Simon. Seems like this is an often requested feature and should be rather simple to allow people to track weight progressions over time
Chris here, resident strength coach at Whoop. I was at PUSH for 8 years before joining Whoop, so I’ve been building strength apps for over a decade and have used many different training software systems in my professional practice (Bridge, TeamBuilder, TruCoach, TrainHeroic).
I can say that we agree with you and others on all of these suggestions and the good news is that they are already on our list for future improvements to Strength Trainer. There is so much more potential here to build a cornerstone feature as you said, and we have a vision of where we want to take Strength Trainer to achieve this. We appreciate the input and please keep it coming!
I just logged on to this today to request the exact same thing! Tracking progress over time would make the Whoop the one-stop-shop for me. I never record my weightlifting workouts on Whoop because I am already recording them in my personal logbook.
@jackclary Thanks for the note. Unfortunately we aren’t able to share publicly product release, but glad to hear you’re excited about this product solution continuing to improve as well.
Appreciate the response - I’d be happy to assist in the development (multi-time founder, technical, hardcore lifter since 2018) in anyway I can. (Years ago I did several interviews related to recovery with a PM)
Thanks @jackclary. I’ll let @ChappyStrengrh and @sprinkles54 know. I know we do member interviews to see what people think of product features. Could be good to get you on the list for one of those. Thanks @jackclary.
I’d like to second everything suggested by @simonroetzer and also suggest fixed rest intervals with an alarm/notification sound built into the workout plan. Much more useful that having to keep an eye on a clock or the Whoop app.
I have also gone back to using an alternative app because strength trainer lacks features at the moment.
Hey @RossEvans We hear you for sure. I do my high performance coaching with large scale training software and they have both timer and stopwatch features built in with alarms, my athletes find it very useful. We will be doing a lot of work on Strength Trainer over the coming year so stay tuned!
Hi @ChappyStrengrh ! For those of us that are putting all our strength training data into WHOOP, does Whoop 5 allow us to access that data through either the API or CSV export? As an example, I have my barbell bench data going back a year - while we all eagerly await new Strength Trainer features, it would be amazing if I could pull all my sets, reps, weights (each session basically) by date so I could use a spreadsheet to analyze. Recognize this question may be more fore the software developers, but it would be a huge win. Thanks, Justin
@rendowan I agree this would be a great feature and I will +1 with product development! Right now there is no export ability with strength trainer unfortunately. Great suggestion!
