What is the Recovery score, and how is it calculated?

I see my Recovery score every morning, but I’m not totally sure how it works. What goes into it, and how should I use it?

Your Recovery score is calculated based on your heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate (RHR), and sleep performance. These metrics reflect how well your body has recovered from the previous day’s strain and how prepared it is for new challenges. A higher Recovery score (green) suggests you’re well-rested and ready for intense activity, while a lower score (yellow or red) may indicate fatigue, stress, or poor sleep. You can use your Recovery score to adjust your training and lifestyle habits—pushing harder on green days and prioritizing rest on red days. More details here: WHOOP Recovery
