I want to make sure I’m getting accurate data, but I’m unsure if I’m placing the WHOOP strap correctly on my wrist. Sometimes I see people wearing it further up their forearm, but other times it’s right behind the wrist bone. Does the exact placement really matter? If so, how do I figure out the sweet spot so the sensor can do its job without any interference or discomfort?
I’ve had the best luck by wearing my WHOOP strap about one to two finger-widths above my wrist bone—basically a bit further up the forearm, rather than right on the wrist joint. It doesn’t have to be super tight, but you do want it snug enough that the sensor stays flush against your skin. That way it won’t jiggle around or let light sneak under the sensor. If you notice your readings going haywire or the strap sliding around, try adjusting it a little higher or tightening it just a notch.
A good rule of thumb is to keep it secure but still comfortable—kind of like a fitted watch band. You should be able to move freely without the strap pinching or cutting off circulation. If you’re still not getting consistent data, experiment with small shifts up or down your forearm. Everyone’s wrist shape is a little different, so don’t be afraid to tweak the positioning until you find that sweet spot where your WHOOP feels stable and the readings look spot-on.
