My WHOOP strap app keeps telling me there’s a firmware update available, but I’m not exactly sure how to kick off that process. Do I need to keep my strap on the charger, or can I do it while it’s on my wrist? Will updating firmware erase any of my stored data, or disconnect the device from my phone? A simple checklist or guide would be great for peace of mind.
Updating the firmware is easy. Here’s what works for me:
- Make sure your WHOOP strap is paired with the app.
- Check your battery - there’s no need to put it on the charger, but I’d recommend having at least 20% to be safe. If you’re not sure if your WHOOP is charged, open your WHOOP app and look in the top right corner of the homepage and you’ll see the battery %.
- Keep your strap nearby to your phone and make sure you have a good internet connection.
- If an update is available, you will see a notification in the WHOOP app on the top of the homepage - just tap that notification to get started.
- The update usually takes a few minutes - keep the app open and don’t mess with Bluetooth until it’s finished.
- Once the firmware is done updating, your strap should reconnect automatically and any stored data will sync back to the app.
If you run into any issues, I’d recommend toggling Bluetooth off and on.
