How often does WHOOP wearable makes connection to the phone to synch data?

A couple of questions:

  1. How often does WHOOP wearable makes connection to the phone to synch data?
  2. If my phone is not in the vicinity does it mean that whoop constantly(see question 1) tries to synch data and so drains its power?

Hi there,

We recommend always keeping the WHOOP app open in the background; it syncs pretty much in real time. But if you force-quit the app, syncing pauses until you reopen it.

When your WHOOP is within about 30 feet of your phone, it syncs over Bluetooth. If your phone’s not around, no big deal—WHOOP stores up to 14 days of data and syncs it all once you reconnect.

It won’t drain your battery trying to sync when out of range, either. To keep things smooth, just make sure Bluetooth is on and your WHOOP firmware’s up to date.

So will whoop detect that the phone is not near and will stop continuos “real-time” synchronisation to it? And then when the phone is near and bluetooth is turned on, whoop will notice it and start synchronisatino process?

That’s correct @sergbel. One easy way to check if the app is up to date is to drag down the screen when your WHOOP app is open… it will say “Data Caught Up. Synced to XX:XX AM.”
