It has been much better the last few days since the update. Down to 5% of my battery usage.
@bobbyjohansen thank you for being so communicative here. I have been experiencing this issue since receiving my MG about two weeks ago. Confirming that I received two firmware updates over the past couple of days, but I am uncertain if either of those pertained to this issue. My battery is still draining uncharacteristically quickly as of today. I am on a device with Android version 12.
Thank you so much for the great support! Just got it now
No Problem @jdayanhealth happy to help. If you are still seeing your phone battery drain quickly I recommend first verifying that you are on firmware version 50.30.4.0 or greater through the device settings page → advanced settings (you should see firmware version and device id at the top of that screen.
If you are on that version let me know after a 24 hour period of being on it if it still continues to drain your phone battery and how much background time your OS is recording for the app. We are monitoring the adoption of the firmware to see if there are further edge cases that need solving for so your feedback is super valuable at this time.
Thank you! I have confirmed that I am on firmware version 50.30.4.0. I will give it another day or so before commenting back to see if the issue persists.
With the new firmware could we turn on back the live activities and more frequent updates, has anyone tried and confirm that there is no issue anymore?
I’m having the same issue with 5.0 taking up ~50% of the usage on my iPhone battery and draining it.
Hi @nbreighner please try updating your strap firmware to 50.30.4.0
I wanted to give it a couple of days before reporting back. Yes, it’s an improvement. Is it enough of one? Maybe, maybe not.
I’ve been tracking Whoop’s background activity use with the .4 FW update and most of time it’s active for an average of 5min per hour in the background. Thats great. However sometimes it can be as much as 54min per hour! One of these high-usage hours occurred while I was simply eating dinner / cleaning up.
This is running the latest 18.5 iOS update and I had restarted both the phone and whoop since upgrading the FW.
Good evening,
I just wanted to update you. My phone no longer gets hot and the battery drain is completely reasonable now. Thank you!!
Thank you

@sdrew thank you for the feedback, we will run some diagnostics on our end to see why its having less of an impact on your phone.
Thanks @Heavywaite85 for the follow up! Really appreciate it.
@bobbyjohansen good morning! Seems to be doing a lot better. I will say in addition to the firmware upgrade and the wait and see approach, I also formally unpaired my 4.0 that I gifted to my sister. Someone reported this being helpful on Reddit and I wonder if this is a contributing factor to the improvements I’ve seen. Either way I figured I’d relay that step if it was not already on you and your team’s radar. Thanks again for your communication and support.
@sdrew, jdayanhealth mentioned that removing 4.0 pairing from OS might assist. Can you confirm if your OS is paired with your 4.0 still?
Thanks for the feedback there Jdayanhealth, I will bring this to the team. They are still monitoring global metrics to ensure it normalizes for everyone and there are not additional factors. We will investigate this as a potential culprit.
