Phone Battery Life

Hi @Durkin I have just sent the email to support. Please send me the patch update as my phone battery kept draining out. Now I just close the app to resolve the issue.

@Durkin correct me if I am wrong but the new firmware will soon be rolled to everyone right, do you know when?

Can you send me the firmware update please? Still at 22% which is too high for a background app that should sync at intervals during the day.

Hi all, so can you please also add me to this fix? @Durkin @bobbyjohansen

I have been in emails with costumer service for several days and at some point the reply was just: “We are sorry but there is nothing we can do for you”. Even though the whoop consumes more than 30% of my battery and is unusable in that condition. I was very negatively surprised by that and am now wondering why that was not suggested in the emails if a potential fix exists…

@bobbyjohansen It’s fixed and working perfectly! I’m impressed! Great job guys, incredible support! Thank you

My fold 6 is getting crushed since activated 5.0 whoop. Its also taking longer to charge. Also it doesmt stay paired and have to repair alot.

Please include me on this update.

Awesome to hear @xmarekmalik !

@buzmay Yes we will be rolling out the firmware over the next couple of weeks to a wider audience. I have added folks here early in the rollout to assist as fast as we can.

We phase rollouts typically to ensure stability.

CC @dejan_11 & @sleelt @the1tkm we will be rolling out the next wave this week, be on the lookout for another post here early this week.

No need to wait that long you should be able to see it in the hours after a couple of days. Where its lower in hours in background than historically. That said we do expect to be in the top running apps on your phone percentage wise because we are always connected to your strap and pulling live data.

@KingVonX thats a really great call and feedback. I have passed this along to our internal health development team for consideration.

Awesome to hear you practice BJJ! We have a few folks internally including myself who practice fighting sports. Incredible workout, hats off to you.

I just got the firmware update to supposedly cure the battery life. But I am still perplexed as to why Whoops insists on the app always being open. Only app I know that requires this and nags you when it’s not open. I checked today and it’s been doing background activity for 15 hours. Next closest is email and that is 35 mins. I am closing the app from now on, I simply can’t see why it needs to be open.

@Durkin @bobbyjohansen can I have my device added to to the bug fix as well?

Hi @AlanGooner, good question. In order to have the best shot on goal in keeping your data up to date and to process data in real time the app needs to be running so that the operating system (iOS, Android, etc) allows the app process to intake the data and process it for you. This way when you open the app your insights and coaching are up to date and at your fingertips.

That said, you should see that 15 hours come down with the new patch.

Hi, I have emailed support but can mine be added to the fix, I’m concerned the excessive heat is going to start damaging my battery. Thank you!

Hi Bobby, please could I be added to the firmware update, loving the 5.0 but my phone battery isn’t! Thank you, James

Can you please add my device ?

Thank you so much. Looking forward to getting the update and thank you for the great support but could we get this during the week? I need to charge my iPhone 15 pro every 4 hours since whoop is roasting my battery :frowning:

Hello Bobby,

You are still not explaining why it has to be open. I closed it yesterday afternoon and reopened it this morning. One thing for sure doesn’t work is the alarm if the app is not open, why? After opening it took a good 10 mins to reload the 11 hours of missing data. I dread to think how bad it would be if I didn’t sync for a few days. My Garmin watch and Oura ring was a matter of seconds for the same time frame. Now I have been told it’s because Whoop uses BLE but so does Garmin and Oura. I can not for the life of me see that Whoop has anymore data to transfer compared to the other two devices so why so slow. Whilst it was loading it gave all sorts of strange readings to Strain, Sleep etc. I noticed it loads the data in chunks of time. First load was for about 4 hours, second the next 4 etc etc. So this explains it but again why so slow. As much as the background activities will be less going forward it’s still a very strange set up. My reason for not wanting it open but still perform quickly is because I do not like the distraction of having a phone in my room when I am sleeping. Now it seems if I want the data to load quickly and have the alarm to work I need it close by. I would dread to think I a took a few days away from checking my fitness just to recoup how long it would take. Whoop seems to think that checking your vitals and performance needs to be a full time job. But sometimes we just want to take a weekend off.

Alan
