I am getting really frustrated with Whoops HR analysis. I washed by bike for 10 mins this morning. Whoop has my HR at 153 and according the the coach I actually hit 163 at some point. My Garmin is pretty much spot on, maxed out at 96bpm. But because Whoop thinks I was so high it’s raised my Strain to 9.8, this is completely incorrect. I will be riding in a little while and it will throw my recovery out the window. So frustrating. Has Whoop investigated if the MG has either software or sensor issues in regards to HR.
@Durkin Any thoughts, because there is no way cleaning my bike I hit 153bpm’s
19.5 miles @ 20mph, not quite flat out but pretty hard effort. But apparently washing my bike was a harder effort
Interestingly HR on this ride was very close to Garmin, well within the acceptable range.
Garmin 131avg, 149max
Whoop 129avg, 156max.
Thoroughly confused.
Same issues here with the new Whoop. We are just punished for investing early, what a bunch of scammers.

@AlanGooner When you were cleaning your bike, where did you have your whoop band? If it was on your wrist, that could explain the high spike in HR. I play guitar and initially had the whoop on my strumming hand. I faced a similar issue as you where I saw a spike in HR but learned that it’s because of the motion of strumming my hand. If you were washing the bike with the WHOOP on your wrist and moving sporadically, that could explain the higher reading.
When I’m playing guitar, I now put the device on my left hand and don’t notice that issue anymore. Hopefully that helps
I thought about this and did some test. Had the health screen open and watched my HR. Moved my hand similar to washing my bike and the HR never changed much. But if you are correct that the device learned over time or is affected by movements then this is a problem. It is checking your pulse, if movement affects your pulse reading this shouldn’t happen. It should just count and report the beats
HR is all over the place. Such a shame because I like the stats but no way was I riding over 175bpm, I doubt I could even get that high at my age. Yesterdays ride I was very pleased with HR, pretty close but today on a similar ride and only a bit of effort on a few hills it has me way over reaching. Annoying
