Suggestion for whoop alarms, strength trainer integration and offline features

  1. The whoop haptic alarm is good, but once it ends it does not start again (no snooze like feature). For heavy sleepers, this makes the alarm quite useless as they will simply sleep through the initial haptics. If the haptics could go on for longer, or re-start when after a couple minutes if the user has not double tapped the whoop, it would be more useful.
  2. We all know that it is very tedious to log each set (start set, end set) in the strength trainer and many of us still use apps like Strong, Hevy etc to track our weights workouts, and then manually enter the weights into strength trainer so that we can also capture the muscular strain of the session. If WHOOP adds a feature that allows our workouts to sync to/from these tracker apps, it would help a lot as there would be logging required only on either one app, and the other would automatically integrate the data.
  3. In a similar point to (2), the strength trainer could be better in terms of allowing to start empty workouts, and fill in as you go, as well as giving the option to simply enter the weights after the workout instead of clicking start set, end set. Also being able to see history for a given exercise (eg what you lifted 3 weeks ago) during the session.
  4. Whoop should have a way to capture data offline (without the app being connected to the server), at least basic data such as heart rate and steps, so that users can view this even if their connection is weak.
  5. Whoop should constantly sync real time as many users notice delays between data and real-time.

Strength Trainer was designed to capture Strain during strength workouts, and it calculates muscular load using multiple measurements that are captured when each set is executed (eg, velocity). That’s why the start/stop is used. It would be less accurate if it used volume alone.

@ilyaan08 Great feedback here. Love it. I’m going to pass on your notes to the two Product leads focused on these features.

Regarding #1 (Alarm): Experimenting with haptic alarm length of time / snoozing features. Good ideas. I can see the value in this for deep sleepers like you mentioned.

Re: #2 & #3 (Strength Trainer): We’re continuing to improve this feature. @ChappyStrengrh :eyes: works on this feature with a number of others internally and he’s taking a look at the feedback as well.

Also, which tracker apps are you most interested in syncing WHOOP to?

Re: #4: Interesting thought. Kinda like “Offline” mode when using Google Docs.

Re: #5: When you say WHOOP should sync real time, what’s a good example that you’re referring to?

Thanks for the feedback @ilyaan08. Let me know about the above when you have a min.

@redjack63 I totally get that. However, the start/stop can get tedious and break the flow of the session particularly for people like me who don’t use their phone much during workouts. Sometimes, I forget to enter my weights for an exercise and need to do it when I’m a few sets into the next exercise. Personally, I would prefer if the option to disable the start/stop feature existed, as it would result in me not having to use other apps such as Hevy to track my progress, even if there is a slight loss of accuracy.

@Durkin Thanks for your response!
I personally use Hevy, and I’d like to clarify that I am interested in syncing my workout data from Hevy into Whoop and not the other way round. Currently, I just input all the data manually after I finish my workout, so that whoop can accurately account for the muscular strain. The reason for this is, the whoop strength trainer lacks a lot of features that apps such as Hevy and Strong offer. These include; seeing your entire history of a given weight exercise at any time during the workout (eg 100kg lifted on 01/03/2025), seeing your 1 rep max and similar fitness metrics, the general UI and usability (for example, the ease with which you can switch in/out exercises and reorder them), and features such as switching from kg to lbs and back on-demand. Also, many strength tracker apps have a view that allows you to see the weight input as number of plates on a barbell. Perhaps the Whoop team can look into these apps and see how to integrate the best parts of them into the strength trainer, so that users can have an all-in-one solution and do not need to use any external apps.

For #5, here’s an example.
I go for a walk at 8:00am and walk until 9:00am. At 9, I want to see my total day’s steps to see if I have reached my target of 10,000. However, whoop has only updated in app to 8:55am, therefore the step count that I am currently at is lagging behind in the app. I understand that the app processes a tremendous amount of data and therefore requires some time to do so, but similar to how the heart rate data can be viewed on-demand in real time, it would be great if other essential yet simple metrics like step count can be viewed in real time.
