While the bands from 4.0 are not compatible with the 5.0 due to size, what about body items/apparel and the battery packs from the 4.0?

Due to updates in the hardware and a new shape, WHOOP body items and battery packs from 4.0 are no longer compatible with 5.0.
What a waste buying multiple bands and batteries.
You should have offered some deal or discount for people that invested in your service.

Which is a despicable fraud
I bought and paid for additional battery charger only a month ago - and barely 6 months into my 12 month subscription .
I now have an app with functions I cannot access - the prospect of god knows what expense if I want to access new features I was promised pile be included in my subs
