I am noticing whoop isn’t reading my running Apple Watch workouts correctly. If I have to pause my run whoop always shows a slower pace as if they are ignoring the pause period.
This is quite interesting. I am a cyclist and not a runner but the fact you are getting the work out imported that shows pace is something that does not happen with cycling. For cycling all it does is use Apple Health to find the start time and end time of the activity, from there on it uses just HR to determine my strain. For a cyclist HR is only one metric to determine how hard you worked out. Power and Pace/MPH are also key metrics.
So even though you are not getting the correct pause time, you appear to be getting a lot more than me
Can you post a screenshot showing what running gets, here is a cycling workout.
I wouldn’t trust Whoop App for GPS but I see now how you get pace, thank you
Apple Watch, Garmin etc have auto pause so I can see why you see a difference, you are not using Apple Watch data just Whoops. Personally I would prefer they get the data from the best source which would be my Garmin Bike computer. Same I would assume for Apple Watch for you. Last resort is get the data from Apple Health. It has everything I need to calculate my strain properly which is all I am concerned about. I do not need a map.
That is my Apple Watch data. I never start a whoop activity. It just importing the workout to get all the data but HR.
mmmm I wonder why my Garmin activities aren’t syncing then…
Garmin doesn’t add a route map when writing their workouts to Apple health.
So only Apple watch does that, mmm.
Still think Whoop should go to the source and get the data there. Like I said do not care about the map but at least grab the pace and power from Apple Heath. But better still, go directly to the source and get it, Whoop has amazing stats and insights but for me the line is blurred since it doesn’t get the real data. At least for me and I assume a lot of other users who do not use Apple and their main tracking device…
Just out of interest I started a Whoop cycling activity before my ride today. Distance was different by 1/2 a mile further. Garmin had me at 16.1mph but that is the fact whoop doesn’t pause at traffic lights etc. Calories are way off, at least 600kcal less. And elevation gain was only around 2k. Strain might be better because it knew more about me than just HR. Basically I’ll trust my cycling efforts to Garmin for now
