Heart Rate records

Hi, I’d like some advice. During training, my heart rate on Whoop shows higher than on my Polar chest strap (which I know is more accurate anyway). What should I do? I’m currently on a free trial and planning to subscribe, but this is quite upsetting. Does it affect the strain score?

This is polar

There are many posts regarding this issue.

After a lot of trial an error what I found that worked for me is just before setting off on a bike ride I slide the Whoop up my arm to a more meatier part the wrist, around 4 fingers from the wrist bone. It feels uncomfortable but does produce results close to my Garmin chest strap. After the ride I return it back to the more comfortable position.

If you search for my posts and comments you will see a picture of how far I moved up my arm.

Hope this helps

Bicep or upper forearm placement generally tends to be much better for heart rate accuracy. Making the strap much tighter on the wrist can also help.

My issue I believe is I have a very skinny wrists, whilst generally on the wrist is fine during activities like cycling seem to affect the whoop. I have it very tight on my wrist to the point it leaves a mark. But as you and I have discovered moving up the arm during activity has helped..

@MarinkaM I’d suggest two things:

  1. @AlanGooner is right: Putting WHOOP a bit higher on your risk will help (and tightening it).

  2. I suggest you try manually updating your heart rate zones following this guide: Whoop Support

If it’s a trust thing and you trust your polar strap, cool… Adjust your WHOOP zones to your polar zones and let it ride.

If after doin that you have issues… ping me again.

Thanks for trying WHOOP. Trying anything in this wearable space takes guts and I appreciate you giving us a try.
