How can I label or log my activities in the app?

I do different types of workouts—runs, strength sessions, and even pick-up basketball games. I’d like to label each activity so my strain and recovery readings make sense in context. Does WHOOP allow me to tag or name each activity after the fact, or do I have to do it in real time? Any tips on how to keep it organized so I can look back at my data and see which types of workouts align best with strong recovery days or big jumps in fitness would be awesome.

I usually label my workouts right after I finish them, but you can do it in real time or after the fact—whatever fits your routine. When you open the whoop app, there’s an Activities section on the homepage.

  • Real-Time Logging: If you start your activity in the app before you begin working out, whoop will track it live. You’ll see details like heart rate and strain as you go.

  • After-the-Fact Tagging: If you forgot to log in real time, just open the app later, locate the session (it should appear as an unclassified activity or a detected period of elevated heart rate), and label it with the correct workout type.

By categorizing each session—whether it’s a run, basketball game, or strength session—you’ll be able to look back and see which workouts caused big increases in strain, and how they correlate with your recovery scores. It really helps you spot patterns, like when a certain type of training boosts your fitness or when it leaves you more fatigued than usual. So if you’re into analyzing your progress over time, labeling everything consistently is a simple but super handy way to do it.

Are you talking about adding more detail to an existing activity? Can you give some more examples of which WHOOP activities you’d like to label, and what labels you’d use?
