Issues with Sleep tracking

My new Whoop MG is under recording my sleep. If I get up in the night and then return to bed it does not record any further sleep. For example, last night I slept from 9:07 to 11:23. Got up briefly, and the returned to bed until 5am. It only tracked my sleep from 9:07 to 11:23. I have edited the time in bed, but this does not recalculate sleep efficiency etc. Has anyone else encountered this? Have you solved it?

Hey there! Here are a few things to try if you notice your sleep tracking looks inaccurate.

  • If your numbers look off, double-check that your strap is snug and properly placed
  • Sensor is clean
  • No major sleep disruptions (light, noise, travel, etc.)

Tap the Sleep dial in the app to dig into your metrics and spot what might be throwing things off. WHOOP also gives bedtime and wake-up tips to help you stay on track.

Also, if your WHOOP is brand new, it may still be calibrating.

DOES Whoop 5.0 track naps? I also wear an Oura ring… it’s been able to track my naps (30-45 minutes). My Whoop 5.0 has not recorded any and I’ve been having to enter them in manually.

Yep, WHOOP 5.0 tracks naps! They show up as separate sleep sessions with all the usual stage data… REM, Light, Deep, the whole thing. Naps won’t give you a new Recovery score or change your Sleep Debt directly, but they do lower your overall Sleep Need for the day, which definitely helps.

If naps aren’t showing up, you WHOOP might still be calibrating.

Good to know. Thanks for your response! I have gone a significant amount of time without wearing my whoop. I am assuming it must be calibrating again for the time being. Time will tell.
