I’m new to whoop. In the several swims I logged in the last 3 weeks I have noticed that the HR recorded by whoop is way higher than in my Garmin/Polar/Form. That creates an over estimation of the swim strain.
In running it is pretty close.
Any ideas how to improve HR readings while swimming?
Swimming can challenge HR accuracy due to water pressure, motion, and skin contact. To improve readings:
- Fit matters: WHOOP should be snug, about 1 inch above the wrist bone. If loose, water disrupts sensor contact.
- Placement tweak: Try wearing WHOOP on the upper arm using a bicep band for better stability.
- Clean the sensor: Ensure no lotion, dirt, or sweat residue interferes with readings.
- Warm up: Cold water impacts blood flow; a proper warm-up can help stabilize HR readings.
WHOOP uses advanced motion filtering, but swimming can still introduce challenges. Try these tips and let us know if the issue persists.
