Whoop 5.0 MG stopped working after 6 hours - no green or blue light even after charging

My Whoop MG stopped working overnight after working for 8 hours. No green light, no bluelight nothing. It won’t now pair with the app.

Literally the same thing happened to me today at 415pm. This also doesn’t seem like an isolated incident. What is going on?

Mine also stopped completely after 2 hours - no lights, no connection I’m not sure what to do

Thank you for the questions. I recommend you follow these steps to get your WHOOP MG working again:

  1. Check the Battery Pack: Ensure the Wireless PowerPack is fully charged. A flashing green light on the charger indicates it’s actively charging, and a solid green light means it’s fully charged.

  2. Charge the WHOOP MG: Slide the PowerPack or Basic Charger onto the sensor and leave it charging for at least 15 minutes. If no lights appear on the sensor, try a different USB-C cable or power source to confirm the charger is working.

  3. Force a Reset:

    • Remove the WHOOP MG from the charger.
    • Rapidly tap the top of the sensor multiple times until the side LED pulses blue. This indicates it’s ready to pair. If no lights appear, continue to charge it longer and try again.
  4. Pair the Device Again:

    • Open the WHOOP app and go to More > Device Settings > Advanced > Pair a Device.
    • Look for the WHOOP MG sensor ID and select it to reconnect.
  5. Environmental Check:

    • Ensure the device wasn’t exposed to extreme heat (e.g., sauna) or submerged beyond its water resistance limits (10 meters for up to 2 hours).

If none of these steps work, I recommend you contact WHOOP Support for further assistance. They may need to replace the device if it’s unresponsive. You can direct them to the Support section in the WHOOP app or to support.whoop.com.

Yeah none of that worked. I even did the charged the battery pack to full, left it plugged in, and then connected it to my band for 60 seconds. Still nothing. Still waiting on a response from support.

I’ve tried all these steps two times over and they’ve not worked. My Whoop MG is completely non responsive. The battery pack’s light is greeen and responds to a tap. The device doesn’t respond to tapping and the app keeps wanting to connect to my Whoop 4 which I have unpaired and forgotten from my Bluetooth settings. I’ve raised a ticket 8 hours ago and not received even a confirmation of receipt. I’ll raise another case now.

I’m experiencing the same issue. I received my WHOOP MG today and have spent hours trying to turn it on, following all steps and guidelines — but still no sign of life. Really disappointing, especially since I was so excited to try it out…

same exact issue - what is going on with all these DOA sensors? There is a large REDDIT Whoop thread discussing it as well - no one seems to have a fix and the support response has been lacking. I have tried the 844 number to no avail -

Same here. Worked for two hours and then stopped.

Please post if anyone figures out a fix. I’m in the same boat with the sensor dying a few hours in on a full charge.

Exactly the same problem with me! Got the mg device yesterday and it only worked for an hour. Tried charging the device and other steps but none of them working. Quite disappointed.

Whats the solution now?

I have the exact same problem with my MG. Stopped working just before going to bed. Have tried all the things you have said and nothing. Have raised it with customer support this morning.

This is after I found that I have been charged an additional £45 for the millennium box that I should have received for free (2076 recoveries).

Back to the 4.0 for the time being which I am now apparently paying a monthly premium for.

Not a great customer experience tbh. Hope you sort it out.

Same issue here. Looks wide spread and I can’t even get a real person to talk to about it.

Same here; the sensor fails after a couple of hours even with a full charge. Anyone know how to fix this? I have already opened a ticket with support.

Hi everyone, I know a number of you have already troubleshooted connectivity issues, but for those who haven’t yet or would like to try again, feel free to reference the help articles listed on these two pages of our Support page.

The WHOOP 5.0/MG Setup & Pairing section might be particularly helpful in this Setting Up your WHOOP article.

There are a handful of support articles here as well that might be helpful related to Strap & Charging.

If the issue is not resolved after troubleshooting from those articles, I suggest you Submit a Request here for a member of the Support team to reach out.

I have had my whoop 5.0 for less than 48 hours. And it is dead. Died overnight. Indicated full charge. Battery pack shows green. No side or underneath LEDs turn on no matter how long I leave it charging or tap it. Followed all troubleshooting instructions from AI support and real person support. Refuses to turn on at all therefore unable to pair or troubleshoot with the app. My wife is using my old 4.0 that I have had for nearly 3 years and it still works great. Very disappointing.

So Whoop sent me another one - telling me to return the faulty Whoop MG.
The only problem was that they replaced it with the inferior 5.0 model - and then they told me to return the broken MG!! So much for the top tier LIFE membership subscription?
All a bit hopeless.
